The photographs were taken as part of an exhibition in 2014 at the University of Brighton (Headroom show). It was also featured in 2015 Modalities-Centric Community Project in Southampton.

Artist Statement

My work takes a critical view of social, political, domestic and popular cultural issues, exploring the idea of racism, injustice, war, violence and cultural difference.  I use myself as the model for both figures and the work, which reflect feminist figure suggesting passive acceptance of black culture.

I explore those ideas through different types of media, from domestic material such as fabric, photography, film, social media and language and most importantly through the power of my own body. 

My work is all about making people more aware of the fact that race plays an important part in our ways of thinking and understanding.
