EACH TO THEIR OWN… Some casually write what they call a poem Of stray thoughts that in their mind roam! They write poetry in one go - in no time, Managing to flow freely and even rhyme! Then, there are those who compose poetry With deep, fine thinking and much artistry, Selecting each word with great care, As if encrusting with gems oh-so rare. For the composers, poetry is a delicate craft, With absolute focus, they polish every draft. Each word has to fall perfectly in place, And engage the reader in several ways. The “casual” poets often appear as if in a tearing hurry. As to how they come across, they don’t seem to worry. Outpouring of words seems like a gush, That’s channeled in an enormous rush! While the “composer” follows certain rules, The “casual poet” employs no major tools. But each obviously loves to write - Some take it heavy and some light!
About the Poet:
Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy, a senior ex-banker and a former urban governance consultant, is currently the President, Connecting Across Borders. She has two poetry collections to her credit: “P-EN-CHANTS” and “P-EN-CHANTS…Again” of which the former has been recognized by the India Book of Records for never-before-attempted film reviews and management topics in rhymes. A recipient of several awards and honours, Paddy has compiled and edited 6 international multilingual poetry anthologies of which ‘Amaravati Poetic Prism’ 2016 to 2019 have been recognized by the Limca Book of Records as “Poetry Anthology in Most Languages”. She has also compiled and edited 2 English Poetry anthologies – “WWW – Women, Wit & Wisdom” and ISISAR-Kolkata’s “Cognitive Slides” (co-edited with Ms. Hema Ravi)
