Poems by Erin Jamieson

Mouth

Is my mouth
made of glass
shards you use
to pierce delicate
dreams seep into waking
hours: diaphanous clouds
burned by swollen words they cannot
release in your shadows -

words that erupt with night sky
				flooding the streets we once
				danced, barefoot: your calloused feet
				my unsteady steps- trusting you
				to guide me

so this is how it ends:
clothing for a week crammed
in the same suitcase I packed
for our honeymoon
Rain at Night

at night, rain falls
so quickly
I can’t remember
where we bought
butter pecan cones
& I pretended
to like the flavor or
which street has that
one bedroom house
you wanted to buy -
not then, sometime
in the distant future
when we had our lives
figured out
